California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner Endorses John McCain
February 9, 2008 -- ARLINGTON, VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign today announced that Steve Poizner, California Insurance Commissioner, has endorsed John McCain for president. Commissioner Poizner will serve as a State Co-Chair for the McCain campaign in California.
"John McCain's life stands as proof positive to his belief in serving others," said Commissioner Poizner. "Whether in the U.S. Navy or the U.S. Senate, John McCain has time and again demonstrated his courage, character, and integrity. He is also a proven leader in the fight to bring transformative change to Washington. I am proud to endorse John McCain for president."
John McCain thanked Commissioner Poizner, saying, "Steve is a bright, energetic leader for the people of California. He is a tireless advocate for government accountability and a committed public servant. I am honored and grateful to have him on our team.
Steve Poizner was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Prior to serving as Insurance Commissioner, Mr. Poizner was a successful Silicon Valley entrepreneur. He moved to California in 1978 to attend Stanford University, where he earned a Master's Degree with Honors in Business Administration. Commissioner Poizner and his wife, Carol, live in Los Gatos where they are raising their daughter.
