Senator Kennedy On Passage Of Economic Stimulus Package
February 7, 2008 -- WASHINGTON, DC— Today, Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, released the following statement on the passage of the Senate economic stimulus package.
“Today’s vote is a victory for working families, and a vital first step to get our economy back on track.
While I am glad we could act quickly to address the coming crisis, I am deeply disappointed that my Republican colleagues were unwilling to provide much-needed relief for families who are having trouble finding a job and heating their homes in these turbulent times.
Supporting families who are struggling is the best stimulus money can buy, and I plan to keep fighting to get them the help they need and deserve. This is not the end of our efforts – it a down payment on our commitment to help every family in America find better days ahead.”
