Coast Guard, Army, Navy Share Business Improvement Best-Practices
January 31, 2008 -- WASHINGTON - - The U.S. Coast Guard formalized a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy to establish a cooperative, collaborative relationship to share best-practices as each of the services work toward modernizing their business practices.
The joint agreement was signed by Rear Adm. Jody A. Breckenridge, director, Coast Guard strategic transformation team, Michael Kirby, deputy under secretary of the Army for business transformation, and Anita Blair, deputy assistant secretary of the Navy for total force transformation and acting assistant secretary of the Navy for manpower and reserve affairs.
The Army and Navy first signed a memorandum of understanding that formalized a business transformation data sharing agreement for workload performance in November 2007. The Coast Guard recognizes the clear benefits of joining forces and welcomes the opportunity to share information and capitalize on lessons-learned through this cooperative relationship.
Coast Guard modernization will update its command and control structure, logistics support system, and business practices to enable the service to maintain operational excellence and sustainable mission execution far into the 21st century.
