Wednesday, January 30, 2008 -- When football player Kevin Everett walks into the stadium for the Super Bowl this weekend in Phoenix, it will be nothing short of a miracle. After a terrifying collision on the football field on September 9, 2007, the Buffalo Bills player was told he might not survive, let alone ever walk again; he had sustained a severe spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed from the neck down. In his first network news interview, Everett tells ABC News' Bob Woodruff of those initial moments: "I tried to give my teammates a thumbs up when they put me on the stretcher. I tried my hardest, you know, put all my heart into it. Just to let them know I was alright. But it wasn't alright."

The prognosis for Everett was grim, so his doctor took some calculated risks. He employed controversial treatments like high-dose steroids and cold saline that was pumped through Everett's bloodstream. Everett soon began making subtle movements and, one month after his injury, took his first steps in a Houston rehabilitation center. Now, less than five months later - and against all odds -- Everett is making improvements every day.

Woodruff's interview with Everett, as well as interviews with his family, doctors, teammates and coaches, will be featured on "World News with Charles Gibson" and "Nightline" on Thursday, January 31 and on "Good Morning America" on Friday, February 1. Also on Friday, Everett and his fiancée, Wiande Moore, will appear live, in studio at "Good Morning America" to share the story of his remarkable recovery and discuss the new book about his ordeal, "Standing Tall."

Woodruff's conversation with Everett will also be featured on ESPN's "SportsCenter" on Thursday, January 31 at 11:00 p.m., ET and Friday, February 1 at 6:00 p.m., ET. A one-hour "SportsCenter" special, "The Remarkable Recovery of Kevin Everett," will air on ESPN2 on Friday from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET.
