Pittsburgh Pirates, FSN Announce 2008 Television Schedule
2008 to feature a record number of regular season and HD telecasts
01/30/2008 -- The Pittsburgh Pirates and FSN Pittsburgh, the exclusive rights holder for Pittsburgh Pirates regional Major League Baseball telecasts, announced today that a record 125 regular season and two Spring Training games will be aired in 2008. FSN will be offering 54 of the regular season games in High Definition (HD) where available (HD schedule and details will be announced at a later date).
FSN will feature six weeks of daily reports starting Feb. 15 and two games live from Spring Training as the team celebrates the 40th anniversary of Pirates Spring Training in Bradenton, Florida. On Wednesday, March 19, coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. with a special pre-game edition of Savran on SportsBeat from McKechnie Field before the Pirates host the New York Yankees. Savran on SportsBeat will also be telecast from McKechnie Field on March 20 and 21 at 6:30 p.m. The contest between the Pirates and Minnesota Twins will be live on FSN on Tuesday, March 25 at 1 p.m. and will re-air on Wednesday, March 26 at 7 p.m.

"We are extremely excited for the 2008 season and eager to see how our core group of talented, young players will respond to the expectations set by John Russell and his staff, and grow as a team under their leadership."
The regular season will begin with the Pirates opener against the Atlanta Braves from Turner Field on Monday, March 31. Pre-game begins at 6:30 p.m. Home opener coverage of the Pirates hosting the Chicago Cubs is set for Monday, April 7 at 12 p.m. from PNC Park.
FSN will feature LIVE pre and post-game shows for all 125 games plus Inside Pirates Baseball and Pirates-related In My Own Words, Spotlight and Under the Lights programming.
Lanny Frattare, Greg Brown, Steve Blass, Bob Walk and John Wehner, will continue to call the action in 2008. Brown and Frattare will handle the play-by-play duties while Blass, Walk and Wehner serve as color analysts.
