Senator Ted Kennedy Reaction To House Passage Of Stimulus Package
January 29, 2008 -- WASHINGTON, DC— Today the House voted by a vote of 385-35 to pass stimulus legislation to address the looming crisis facing the American economy. Senator Edward M. Kennedy issued the following statement on the House vote:
“The stimulus package passed by the House today is a critical first step, but it doesn’t go far enough to address the immense challenges facing our economy, and the real suffering that working families are experiencing. We need to do more to help those who are struggling to find a job, heat their homes, or just put food on the table. And we need a tax rebate that gives low income families and the elderly their fair share. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Senate to improve this legislation and provide real solutions to the real problems facing American families.”
