Iowa Governor Culver Reponds To State Of The Union Address
January 28, 2008 -- Des Moines -- Iowa Governor Chet Culver responds to President Bush's State of the Union Address:
STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR CHET CULVER:
"During my Condition of the State address, I called for increased civility in state government. I believe a new era of civility is even more necessary in Washington, and I appreciate President Bush's willingness to work with both parties on an economic stimulus package to help working Americans. It is important that any stimulus legislation passed by Congress and signed into law by President Bush include flexible block grants to states, as well as resources to the states to protect families on Medicaid.
"I look forward to working with the President and members of Congress in a bipartisan way to do what it takes to keep Iowa's economy strong, work towards energy independence, create more jobs, expand healthcare and improve education at all levels."
