New Line Cinema, Picturehouse Receive Multiple Oscar Nominations

January 23, 2008 -- New Line Cinema's The Golden Compass and Picturehouse's La Vie en Rose and Mongol received nominations on Jan. 22 for the 80th Annual Academy Awards.

Marion Cotillard is a nominee for Best Performance by an Actress in a leading role for her portrayal of legendary singer Edith Piaf in the biopic La Vie en Rose. The film is also nominated for Achievement in Costume Design (Marit Allen) and for Make-Up Didier Lavergne and Jan Archibald).

New Line's fantasy epic The Golden Compass garnered nominations for Achievement in Art Direction (Art Direction: Dennis Gassner; Set Decoration: Anna Pinnock) and for Visual Effects (Michael Fink, Bill Westenhofer, Ben Morris and Trevor Wood).

The drama Mongol from Kazakhstan, based on the life of Genghis Khan, is distributed by Picturehouse and earned a nod for best Foreign Language Film.

The 80th Annual Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday, February 24 at the Kodak Theatres at Hollywood & Highland Centre and will be televised on ABC.
