30,483 Attend TwinsFest 2008

01/27/2008, MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL -- The Minnesota Twins today announced that TwinsFest 2008 attracted 30,483 fans to the Metrodome, the third-highest TwinsFest attendance in the event's history.

Presented by Dodge and your local Dodge Dealers, TwinsFest is an annual fundraiser for the Minnesota Twins Community Fund, a nonprofit organization working to support and improve youth baseball and softball in the Upper Midwest. Since its inception in 1989, TwinsFest has raised more than $4 million for programs and organizations supported by the Twins Community Fund.

The 30,483 ranks as the third-highest attendance total in TwinsFest history following last year's record attendance of more than 35,000 attending the three-day event and 33,000 in 1992. Other recent TwinsFest attendance figures are as follows: 2006 -- 25,000; 2005 -- 29,000; 2004 -- 23,000; and 2003 -- 27,000.

The Twins' 2008 Home Opener is Monday, March 31 at 6:05 p.m. CT versus the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Twins 2008 home schedule also features a six-game homestand in June with National League opponents including the Washington Nationals (June 17-19) and Arizona Diamondbacks (June 20 - 22). The Twins visit the San Diego Padres (June 24-26) before returning home to close out Interleague Play against the Milwaukee Brewers (June 27-29).

Other home schedule highlights include two visits from the New York Yankees (May 30-June 2 and August 11-13) and a four-game series against the World Series champion Boston Red Sox (May 9- 12).

Twins pitchers and catchers will to report to Spring Training in Fort Myers, Fla. on Sunday, Feb. 17. Their first workout is slated for Monday, Feb. 18. The balance of the squad will report on Friday, Feb. 22. Full-squad workouts begin on Saturday, Feb. 23.
