Approved Today in Commission Meeting

Jan 22, 2008 -- BATON ROUGE – Today, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal supported the approval of $45 million in bonds for Delta Community College in Monroe, which was voted on and approved in a meeting of the State Bond Commission earlier this afternoon.

The State Bond Commission voted to approve $45 million in revenue bonds for the Delta Campus Facilities Corporation Project which will fund construction, improvements, developments and equipping a new campus for Delta Community College to be located in Monroe and all new equipment, furnishings, fixtures and facilities needed for the new campus.

Jindal said, “Delta Community College’s new campus is a vital step in training a skilled and qualified workforce in Northeast Louisiana and our entire state. The reality is that not every high school graduate is going to go to a four-year college. Our community and technical college system provides accessible, affordable, high-quality programs for thousands of students. This approval of $45 million in bonds for Delta Community College’s new campus will work to cultivate even greater successes in student achievement so that graduates are trained and ready to enter rewarding, high-paying careers.”
