Baltimore Orioles FanFest to Be Held at Camden Yards on March 29
01/22/2008 -- The Baltimore Orioles will give fans an early look at the 2008 team on Saturday, March 29, when the club hosts an open workout and FanFest celebration from 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at Camden Yards. The event will feature autograph and question and answer sessions with current and former players and coaches, fan forums and interactive activities for children.
As part of the Orange Carpet benefits program, Season Plan Holders will be admitted beginning at 9 a.m. for a "State of the Orioles" address with Andy MacPhail and Dave Trembley scheduled to start at 9:45 a.m. The ballpark will open for all fans at 10:30 a.m.
Highlights of the event include an autograph session with current players and a full squad workout on the field. Players will sit at autograph stations set up along the warning track on the field and fans will line up in the seating bowl to receive autographs from their favorite Orioles. During the team workout, fans are invited to sit in box seats between the dugouts and watch as hitters take their first swings at Camden Yards in 2008 during the full-squad workout. Orioles broadcasters will conduct interviews with players and coaches from the field during the workout that will be broadcast throughout the ballpark.
"Based on the large attendance and overwhelmingly positive feedback we received about last year's FanFest, we have elected to hold this year's event utilizing a similar format," said Orioles Director of Communications Greg Bader. "FanFest is our kickoff to the 2008 season, and we want to give our fans the opportunity to see the players work out at Camden Yards and also to enjoy some personal interaction with their favorite Orioles."
Other FanFest activities will be held on the main concourse and Club Level throughout the day. The main concourse will feature activities for kids, including a moon bounce, speed pitch and other interactives. Club level activities include former player autograph stations, question and answer sessions with front office executives and media members, photos with the Oriole Bird and a memorabilia sale. Concessions will be available throughout the day on the main concourse and Club Level.
Tickets for the March 29 workout and FanFest celebration go on sale Saturday, Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 14 and under and fans 55 and over. Tickets may be purchased online at Orioles.com; by phone at 1-888-848-BIRD; or in person at the Orioles' Box Office or any TicketMaster outlet, or the official team store in York, PA. Season Plan Holders will receive complimentary tickets as part of their Orange Carpet benefits program.
