Multi-Language Renditions of Songs from Disney's "High School Musical 2" To Be Featured Friday, Jan. 18 on Disney Channel
Disney Channel Original Movie's Popular Songs Performed by Recording Artists from Around the World
BURBANK, January 14, 2007 -- Seventeen renditions of songs from the global sensation for kids and families, Disney's "High School Musical 2," performed in multiple languages by recording artists from around the world, will be presented FRIDAY, JANUARY 18 during a special programming event on Disney Channel. The music videos have been airing on each country's local Disney Channel.
The day-long event begins with a 16-episode marathon of Disney's "Hannah Montana" (12:00 noon-8:00 p.m., ET/PT), and leads into a telecast of the smash hit "High School Musical 2" (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET/PT). Miley Cyrus, star of "Hannah Montana," is also seen in a cameo role during the final sequence of "High School Musical 2."
Throughout "High School Musical 2" (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET/PT), highlights and star interviews from the movie's European red-carpet premiere event will be featured.
"High School Musical 2" has been seen by more than 179 million Total Viewers around the world and its soundtrack, which to date has shipped 6.5 million units globally, was the #2 selling album of 2007 in the U.S. For 2007 "Hannah Montana" was, for the second consecutive year, TV's #1 scripted series among Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14. "Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus" CD was the #6 selling album of the year.
