Bomb Blast Kills At Least 20 in Eastern Pakistan
10 January 2008 -- Pakistani police say at least 20 people, mostly policemen, have been killed in a suicide bomb attack in the eastern city of Lahore.
Officials say more than 60 other people were wounded.
Thursday's blast ripped through a busy square in front of the Lahore High Court where dozens of police had gathered ahead of a planned protest by the the city's lawyers.
Local Police Chief Malik Mohammad Iqbal told local media that all but one of the victims were policemen.
Authorities say the bomber was riding a motorcycle and blew himself up when police asked him to stop outside the court.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
