20/20 Airs 'A Year Caught on Tape:2007' on Dec. 28

How Video and the Internet Changed Our World In 2007 On "20/20," Friday, December 28 on ABC

Friday, December 21, 2007 -- From the most talked about and most viewed videos of 2007 to celebrities and crime caught on tape, "20/20" recaps the year. "20/20" airs on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 28 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. Reports include:

*Most Popular Videos of 2007: One hundred billion videos were watched this year on YouTube and other Internet sites. John Stossel looks at the most popular of 2007, which include a beauty queen's pratfall and student Tay Zonday, whose amateur music video of his song, "Chocolate Rain" has been watched more than 12 million times. Other videos include hand-holding otters, an Etch A Sketch artist and a battle between a herd of buffalo and hungry lions.

*Caught on Tape - Crime: Just weeks ago, another round of protests erupted in Florida when an all-white jury acquitted a group of juvenile boot camp guards of manslaughter charges in the death of 14-year-old Martin Lee Anderson, who died while at a Panama City, FL facility for juvenile offenders. Soon after the teen's death, a surveillance video of the incident surfaced showing the group of mostly white guards restraining the black teen, who according to an autopsy had ultimately suffocated. Even after a trial, verdict, lawsuits and protests, the search for the truth in the grainy images of the tape continues, with a federal investigation pending and a northern Florida community divided. Jim Avila reports.

*Celebrities Caught on Tape: Chris Connelly reports on the netherworld of caught-on-video celebrity misadventure. He talks to top Los Angeles paparazzi who cover the likes of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton for a living, as well as Janice Min, editor-in-chief of US Magazine, who says her readers love seeing photos of such celebs and their daily antics.

*The Internet Made Me Famous: William Sledd was just a 23-year-old living with his parents in Paducah, Kentucky and working at the Gap. Through boredom and curiosity, he started making video blogs and posting them on YouTube. He named his video sessions "Ask a Gay Man" and discussed everything from fashion and baking cupcakes to being gay in a small town. Within a few months, Sledd had the fifth most viewed video on YouTube. (OAD: 8/21/2007)

*Iconic Images of 2007: Among the events of 2007, there are those you may wish had never ended, and others you'd rather forget. This year we witnessed the wrath of a troubled young man who killed 32 people at Virginia Tech, as well as the wrath of nature, which brought wildfires and ice storms across the country. However, we also saw breathtaking humanity in a dying professor's lecture of a lifetime at Carnegie Mellon University. Bob Brown reports.
