Senatobia, Mississippi Insurance Agent Arrested for Fraud

December 19, 2007 -- Jackson, MS - Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood today confirmed the arrest of a Mississippi insurance agent on fraud charges. David Bass Williams (DOB 02-22-42), 2497 Country Club Road, Senatobia, MS surrendered last night (December 18, 2007) to an arrest warrant alleging three counts of mail and wire fraud following an investigation by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Insurance Fraud Unit.

Williams is accused of submitting falsified insurance applications to American Heritage Life Insurance Company, where he worked, in a scheme to receive advance commissions. He was booked into the Tate County Jail where he has since been released on a $30,000 bond. No court dates have been set.

Williams is charged under §97-19-83 (Fraud my mail or other means of communication). The penalty for such a crime is “a fine of not more than $10,000 or by imprisonment for not more than five years, or by both such fine and imprisonment.”

The charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
