Thursday, December 13, 2007 -- Celebrity guests scheduled to appear Dec. 17-21 on ABC's "The View" (airs Monday-Friday, 11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET on the ABC Television Network) include Hilary Swank ("P.S. I Love You"), Denis Leary ("Rescue Me") and musical guests Mary J. Blige and Alicia Keys (who will also co-host on Wed., Dec. 19). Margaret Hoover will co-host Mon., Dec. 17.
On Tues., Dec. 18 Sherri Shepherd flies high above the glorious orchestra of Disney's New Amsterdam Theater, the current home of "Mary Poppins, The New Musical," for a scheduled segment that finds Ms. Shepherd on a quest to uncover some Broadway magic and enlists the help of Disney Theatrical Group President Thomas Schumacher, a producer of "Mary Poppins" and the author of How Does The Show Go On? An Introduction To The Theater. Mr. Schumacher takes Ms. Shepherd on a tour that features some of the astonishing things that happen when No. 17 Cherry Tree Lane comes to life for audiences each night. Together they roam backstage to see the props, stage rigging, wardrobe and hair and makeup rooms. There's also a special magic demonstration from current Mary Poppins, Ashley Brown, and Tony(r) Award nominee Gavin Lee (Bert) is also featured.
Whoopi Goldberg's "The Color Purple" co-star Danny Glover is the featured guest on Wed., Dec. 19. On Fri., Dec. 21, there will be a featured musical performance from the Tony Award-winning musical "The Lion King," currently celebrating 10 years on Broadway.
"The View" features Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd. It's the original forum in which real women discuss everyday issues and share their no-holds-barred opinions and engage in colorful conversations. Since its launch, "The View" has received 22 Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Talk Show. The show has received numerous nominations, including ten consecutive nominations for Outstanding Daytime Talk Show and Outstanding Talk Show Host. WEDNESDAY, DEC. 19 - Guest co-host Alicia Keys; Danny Glover ("Honeydrippers"); musical guest Alicia Keys.
THURSDAY, DEC. 20 - Musical guest Mary J. Blige.
FRIDAY, DEC. 21 - Hilary Swank ("P.S. I Love You"); a musical performance from the Tony Award-winning musical "The Lion King," currently celebrating 10 years Broadway.
