Florida Governor Charlie Crist Statement On United States Senate’s Energy Bill
December 18, 2007 -- “I congratulate the United States Senate for yesterday ensuring the increased production and use of ethanol in our country. This legislation could give Florida’s sugarcane and citrus industries a tremendous economic opportunity to come to the forefront in ethanol production.
“I am always encouraged to see efforts that move our nation towards energy independence through increased energy efficiency. This bill’s effort to increase the fuel efficiency standards in our cars is a step in that direction.
“Here in Florida, our state government is doing its part to lead by example and secure our beautiful natural environment for generations to come. I applaud efforts by the United States Congress to take steps to do the same.”
