Oakland A's Agree to Terms with Kiko Calero on One-Year Contract
12/13/2007, OAKLAND -- The Oakland A's today announced that they have agree to terms with right-handed pitcher Kiko Calero on a one-year contract. Kiko Calero was non-tendered yesterday and became a free agent before re-signing with the A's.
Kiko Calero appeared in just 46 games last year because of shoulder problems that led to a stint on the disabled list in June and caused him to miss the final month of the season. He was 1-5 with a save and a 5.75 ERA last year after posting a 3.41 ERA in 70 appearances in 2006 and a 3.23 ERA in 58 outings in 2005. The 32-year old right-hander allowed a .293 opponents batting average last year, but has held the opposition to a .226 mark in his career. Calero was originally acquired by the A's from St. Louis in the Mark Mulder trade following the 2004 season and has a 12-10 record, seven saves and a 3.55 ERA in 241 career appearances.
