Manager Cecil Cooper to be first guest on Houston Astros offseason, call-in radio show

11/13/2007, HOUSTON -- The Houston Astros announced today that the club's popular Astroline call-in radio show will air its first show of the offseason on Wednesday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. The show airs on the club's flagship station, KTRH 740 AM, and on the internet at Astros.com. Hosted by Hall of Fame broadcaster Milo Hamilton, Astroline will be broadcast from the KTRH Studios with Astros Manager Cecil Cooper as the guest.

Cooper, 57, became the 16th manager in franchise history on September 28th after serving as the club's interim manager during the second half of the 2007 season. He guided the Astros to a 15-16 record in his 31 games at the helm, and before being named manager, Cooper served as bench coach for the Astros from 2005-07. Cooper hit .298 with 241 home runs and 1,125 RBI in 17 seasons with the Boston Red Sox (1971-76) and Milwaukee Brewers (1977-87). He played in two World Series (Boston, 1975 and Milwaukee, 1982) and was the 1983 recipient of Major League Baseball's Roberto Clemente Award.

Hamilton began his Hall of Fame radio career as a disc jockey on Armed Forces Radio during Thanksgiving week in 1945. The 2008 season will be his 24th season with the Astros and his 57th year broadcasting Major League Baseball.

Astroline begins its five-month run leading into the 2008 baseball season with Wednesday night's show, and the program is broadcast every Wednesday at 7 p.m. The show moves to Florida in February when the Astros report to their Spring Training complex in Kissimmee.

Astroline features interviews, news, and information on the Houston Astros. Hamilton hosts a different guest each week, including Astros owner Drayton McLane, General Manager Ed Wade, players, and front office personnel.
