November 13, 2007 -- SANTA FE — New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson today announced Brothers starring Tobey Maguire, Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhaal, will be shot in New Mexico. Brothers is a Relativity Media/Michael De Luca Productions/Palomar Pictures production.
Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot, In America, The Boxer, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, In the Name of the Father) will direct. Zach Schiff-Abrams and Tucker Tooley will executive produce, and Michael De Luca, Joni Sighvatsson and Ryan Kavanaugh will produce.
The film will be shot in and around Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Las Vegas, Abiquiu and Glorieta from November 27 to January 30 and expects to hire approximately 250 New Mexico crew members and over 1,000 actors for principal roles and background talent.
Brothers tells the story of a man who is sent to fight in Afghanistan while his black-sheep brother becomes caretaker to his wife and child.
Since Richardson took office, over 85 feature film and television projects have shot in the state, adding over $1.2 billion dollars to New Mexico’s economy.
