California Gov. Issues Statement on Congressional Action to Approve $500 Million Related to Southern California Fires
11/06/2007 -- California Governor Schwarzenegger issued the following statement after a House and Senate Conference Committee today approved $500 million proposed by U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Representative Jerry Lewis (R-Calif.) for emergency fire suppression, risk reduction and recovery needs relating to the disastrous wildfires in Southern California:
“I am grateful for the quick action that Congress is taking to help Southern California recover from the devastating wildfires. The federal government has been a strong partner throughout this ordeal, playing a vital role in the emergency response and working to follow through as we begin our recovery efforts. I would like to thank Senator Dianne Feinstein and Congressman Jerry Lewis for their unwavering support and dedication to Californians as we recover, rebuild and prepare for next year’s fire season.”
