Shawn Camp, Jorge Velandia Elect Free Agency
11/02/2007, ST. PETERSBURG -- The Tampa Bay Devil Rays announced right-handed pitcher Shawn Camp and infielder Jorge Velandia have rejected outright assignments to Durham (AAA), making them free agents.
Shawn Camp, 30, split last season between the Rays and Durham. He went 0-3 with a 7.20 ERA in 50 appearances for the Rays and 0-1 with four saves and a 1.17 ERA over 12 outings for the Bulls.
Jorge Velandia, 32, batted .320 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 14 games for the Rays following his promotion from Durham on Sept. 10. He hit .249 with five home runs and 39 RBI in 120 games for the Bulls.
