San Francisco Giants Announce Three-Year Broadcasting Partnership with KNTV/NBC 11
11/01/2007 -- The San Francisco Giants and KNTV/NBC 11 today announced a three-year broadcast partnership that gives NBC 11 the exclusive over-the-air rights to broadcast Giants games through the 2010 season.
During this three-year agreement, KNTV will have the rights to broadcast Giants regular season and spring training games -- the majority of which, if not all, will be broadcast during primetime. The number of games to be aired will be determined once Major League Baseball's national broadcast schedule is developed. Financial terms were not disclosed. The agreement also allows for additional Giants programming on NBC 11, including a monthly in-depth Giants Magazine show and community partnerships. The Giants broadcast team, consisting of Jon Miller, Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow, will remain intact.
"NBC has a long history of baseball broadcasting - dating back to the MLB Game of the Week in past decades and the broadcast of the World Series. We are especially excited to deliver Giants baseball to our fans during valuable primetime hours on NBC 11 over the next three seasons," said Giants Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Larry Baer. "The Giants and NBC 11 share a strong presence throughout the region and our partnership will go a long way in solidifying and building our fan base for the future."
"We are excited to partner with the premier sports franchise in the Bay Area," said Richard Cerussi, president and general manager of KNTV/NBC 11. "NBC has a long standing association with baseball and we are thrilled that NBC11 is the new home of baseball in the Bay Area - particularly in 2008 when the Giants and the Olympics Games will make for a spectacular summer."
NBC 11 will assume the role of Flagship Station on the Giants Television Network - which includes stations from throughout Northern California, Nevada and Southern Oregon.
