11/01/2007, ANAHEIM -- Los Angeles Angels Baseball Thursday announced the club has reached agreements with bench coach Ron Roenicke, pitching coach Mike Butcher, third base coach Dino Ebel, first base coach Alfredo Griffin, hitting coach Mickey Hatcher, bullpen coach Orlando Mercado and bullpen catcher Steve Soliz on multi-year contract extensions in an announcement by club General Manager Tony Reagins. Per club policy, no other terms of the contracts will be available.

Roenicke, 51, finished his eighth season with the Angels and second as bench coach. He joined the Angels in 2000 as the club's third base coach. Roenicke previously served as the manager of the Fresno Grizzlies (San Francisco's triple-A affiliate) in 1999.

Griffin, 50, will return for his ninth season as the Angels' first base coach. An 18-year major league infielder, Griffin began his major league coaching career as the first base coach for the Toronto Blue Jays from 1996-1997.

Hatcher, 52, will begin his ninth season as the Angels' hitting coach. Under Hatcher, the 2004 Angels finished tied for highest club batting average in the American League (.282, with Boston) and highest in club history (also 1979 and 2002).

Mercado, 45, will return for his 15th season in the Angels' organization and sixth as bullpen coach. Prior to his current position, he spent three seasons as the club's bullpen catcher and five seasons as a minor league coach within the organization.

Ebel, 41, concluded his third season in the Angels' organization and second as third base coach. He spent the 2005 season as manager of the Angels' triple-A affiliate Salt Lake. Ebel spent the previous 17 seasons with the Dodgers as a minor league player, coach and manager.

Butcher, 42, will return for his second season as the Angels' pitching coach. Prior to his current position, he spent the 2006 season as the Tampa Bay pitching coach. Before joining the Devil Rays, he served six seasons in the Angels' minor league system as roving pitching coach (2003-05) or minor league pitching coach (2000-02).

Soliz, 36, will begin his sixth season as the club's bullpen catcher.
