Ron Paul: Ron Paul 2008 Meetup Group Membership Tops 60,000
October 30, 2007 -- ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA— The Ron Paul 2008 Meetup group has surpassed 62,000 members in nearly 1,100 groups, cementing its status as the largest 2008 presidential campaign group of any party on Meetup.com. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has the second largest Meetup group, with fewer than 5,500 members, or less than one-tenth the support of rising Republican contender, Ron Paul.
“Meetup is an important venue for Dr. Paul’s supporters to band together and spread his message of freedom, peace, and prosperity at the local grassroots level,” said Paul campaign spokesman Joe Seehusen.
Founded in 2002, Meetup.com is the world’s largest “people-powered” social network of clubs, groups, and organizations.
