California Governor Schwarzenegger Issues Statement on Death of Calexico Police Department Officer Adrian Castro Cordova

11/02/2007 -- California Governor Schwarzenegger today released the following statement regarding the death of Calexico Police Department Officer Adrian Castro Cordova of Calexico, CA:

“Maria and I wish to extend our deepest sympathies to Officer Adrian Cordova’s family and fellow officers for their terrible loss. No words can adequately convey our appreciation for Adrian’s willingness to serve in the line of duty, undertaking the heroic commitment of protecting our state. Our hearts are filled with sorrow as all Californians grieve the loss of a courageous public servant.”

Cordova, 26, died Nov. 1 as a result of injuries sustained during a traffic accident while returning from a training detail. He was a member of the Calexico Police Department for two years. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth and a daughter.

In honor of Officer Cordova, Capitol flags will be flown at half-staff.
