Kentucky Governor Fletcher Directs Flags at Half-Staff in Honor of Forest Hills Police Chief

October 30, 2007 -- FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher has directed that flags at all state office buildings remain at half-staff in honor of Forest Hills Police Chief Randy Wells.

Chief Wells, 67, was killed Monday while he was providing traffic control for a construction crew working on Louisville’s Gene Snyder Freeway. Chief Wells served as police chief for Forest Hills, located in Jefferson County, for 16 years.

“I know that many Kentuckians across the Commonwealth join Glenna and me in sending our prayers and condolences to the grieving family and friends of Chief Wells and the entire Forest Hills community,” said Governor Fletcher. “We will continue to remember them as they go through this difficult time, just as we will remember all the courageous men and women who serve our Commonwealth by keeping our communities and our country safe.”

Flags are currently at half-staff in honor of Master Sgt. Thomas L. Bruner, of Owensboro, who died Oct. 28 in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Flags will remain at half-staff in honor Chief Wells until sunset on the day of his funeral, which is Friday.
