Tampa Bay Devil Rays to Host 'Picnic in the Park' at Tampa's Gaslight Park
10/26/2007, ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Devil Rays will hold a "Picnic in the Park" on Friday, Nov. 9 at 11:45 a.m. ET at Gaslight Park in downtown Tampa to celebrate the launch of the team's new name, colors, uniforms and logo. The event is free to the public.
More than 15 Rays players and manager Joe Maddon will be on hand to sign autographs. The team will provide free hot dogs, sodas, water, peanuts and Cracker Jacks. Rays radio broadcasters Dave Wills and Andy Freed will serve as emcees for the event and the team will give away T-shirts featuring the Rays new look to selected fans. The Rays Street Team and Raymond will also be part of the celebration.
The Rays new merchandise will be available for sale at the team's Tampa office located at 400 North Tampa Street, directly across from Gaslight Park.
That evening, fans can meet Rays players and purchase the new gear at six Champs Sports locations throughout the Tampa Bay area. Champs is the exclusive retail outlet for the launch.
