Alicia Keys, Avril Lavigne and Nicole Scherzinger to Perform at "2007 American Music Awards"
Music Fans Have Until November 1st to Vote for Nominated Artists at ama.abc.com
Thursday, October 25, 2007 -- The American Music Awards today announced that Alicia Keys, Avril Lavigne and Nicole Scherzinger (Pussycat Dolls) have been confirmed to perform at the "2007 American Music Awards." The 35th annual edition of the popular awards show, which is produced by dick clark productions, Inc., will be broadcast live SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 18 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on ABC from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE in downtown Los Angeles.
Alicia Keys, Avril Lavigne and Nicole Scherzinger will join Celine Dion, Daughtry, Fergie and Rihanna, who were previously announced as performers.
Alicia Keys is a three-time American Music Award winner and a five-time nominee. Her third studio album, As I Am, will be released November 13, 2007. The singer, songwriter, pianist, record producer, actress, philanthropist and author has sold over twenty million albums worldwide and has won numerous awards, including nine Grammy Awards and eleven Billboard Music Awards.
In addition to performing, Canadian-born singer, musician and actress Avril Lavigne was nominated for Favorite Female Artist: Pop/Rock. Lavigne's most recent album, The Best Damn Thing, reached number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and her 2002 debut album, Let Go, sold more than 18 million copies worldwide.
Nicole Scherzinger is best known as the lead vocalist for the R&B group "The Pussycat Dolls." Her debut solo album, Her Name is Nicole, is scheduled to be released on November 20, 2007. Scherzinger has worked on her debut album for the last two years with the help of some of the biggest names in music, including will.i.am, Timbaland, Akon, Ne-Yo, Pharrell Williams, Macy Gray and Sting.
