California Governor Schwarzenegger Announces Opening of Additional Local Assistance Center for Wildfire Victims
10/25/2007 -- Continuing his efforts to provide immediate assistance to displaced Californians affected by the southern California wildfires, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the opening of an additional local assistance center.
“The victims of these wildfires have suffered greatly and have lost so much. We must do everything to ensure all available resources are used to assist the fire victims and their communities to recover as quickly as possible,” said Governor Schwarzenegger.
The local assistance centers serve as efficient one-stop sources for disaster relief services including information on how to replace records lost in the fires, file insurance claims and apply for assistance and housing. The Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, Employment Development Department, Contractors State License Board, Department of Insurance, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of Public Health, Department of Social Services and other state and local agencies will be represented at the centers.
Additional local assistance centers will be opened as needed and will be posted on the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services homepage at www.oes.ca.gov.

The hours of operation for the center at the Orange Show Fairgrounds are Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The hours of operation for the centers announced yesterday are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Rancho Bernardo-Glassman Recreation Center in San Diego has extended hours Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The centers located at Rancho San Diego-Cuyamaca College in El Cajon and the George A. Caravalho Santa Clarita Sports Complex in Santa Clarita will open tomorrow morning.
