10/24/2007 -- Three members of the Philadelphia Phillies RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) All-Star senior team, winners of this year's RBI World Series, are headed to Denver, Colo., for Game 3 of the World Series. Representing the entire team, the three players, along with their coach, will be introduced on the field prior to the game on Saturday to recognize their accomplishment in the 16- to 18-year-old division of the RBI World Series.
Coach Steve Bandura will be accompanied on the trip by team members:
* Matt Howard, an RBI player who won the 60-yard dash for the past two years during the World Series workout day.
* Ramon Reyes, who won the Jackie Robinson Breaking Barriers essay contest for writing about an obstacle he had to overcome in his life. His essay was selected as the winner by Robinson's daughter, Sharon. Reyes was rewarded with a laptop computer.
* Juan Torres, a long-time RBI player.
Major League Baseball will handle all accommodations for the team, including flight, hotel and tickets to Saturday's World Series game.
The Phillies RBI Leagues are sponsored by Turkey Hill Dairy, which donated $100 per Phillies win and 5 cents per carton of Phillies Graham Slam Ice Cream sold. KPMG sponsors Major League Baseball's RBI Program, including the RBI World Series.
