Cleveland Indians Announce 2008 MLB Season Schedule

10/24/2007, CLEVELAND -- The 2007 American League Central Division Champion Cleveland Indians today announced their 2008 MLB regular season schedule, featuring Opening Day at Jacobs Field on Monday, March 31 at 3:05PM against the Chicago White Sox. The March 31 home opener will be the earliest home opening date in club history.

The Indians open their 108th season in the American League with a three-game series against divisional rival Chicago (March 31 & April 2-3) in Cleveland. The Indians will then head west following the Opening Series with stops in Oakland (April 4-6) and Los Angeles (April 7-9).

2007 postseason opponents Boston and New York return to Jacobs Field early in the '08 season, making their only visits of the season in April. Boston travels to Cleveland for a 2-game series April 14 and 15; the Yankees visit Jacobs Field for a 4-game set April 25-28. The final stretch of the Tribe's 2008 home calendar consists of 12 games against AL Central Division foes Chicago, Kansas City, Minnesota and closing out against Detroit (Sept. 19-21).

Interleague play returns in 2008 for the 12thconsecutive season, featuring visits to Jacobs Field by the San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants and Cincinnati Reds. The Indians will travel to Cincinnati, Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers. A look at the 2008 Interleague schedule:

Beginning with Memorial Day weekend May 23 vs. Texas, the Tribe's home schedule features 42 games (7 Summer Weekends) at Jacobs Field during the summer months of late May, June, July and August.

The 2008 home schedule will feature an array of special events and promotions, highlighted by thematic weekends that include Friday Night Fireworks, Saturday Giveaways and the popular Sunday Kids Fun Days. Special Ticket Discounts will return next season, as well.

Detailed information on the Specials Events and Promotional Calendar will be announced prior to the Opening Series and Six Pack Ticket On-Sale scheduled for Friday, November 23 at 10AM. Single Game tickets for all 81 home games will go on sale in early March.
