Britney Spears Regains Temporary Visitation Rights with Her Sons

23 October 2007, Washington (By Ray McDonald) -- Britney Spears has regained temporary visitation rights with her two young sons, her attorney said on October 21.

In an e-mail to the Associated Press, Britney Spears' lawyer Anne Kiley said "Yes, she has visitation with the children." She did not elaborate.

On its Web site, People Magazine said Spears was spotted on October 20, driving in the San Fernando Valley with her boys, two-year-old Sean Preston and one-year-old Jayden James. The magazine reported that a presumed court-ordered monitor was in the passenger seat of the white Mercedes convertible, with the boys in the back seat.

On October 17, Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon told Britney Spears that she could not visit her sons without a parenting coach present until she complies with a court order. The mandate did not detail which directives Spears had failed to obey. Gordon had ordered her to undergo random weekly drug testing, citing evidence that Spears engaged in "habitual, frequent and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol."

A hearing on the matter has been scheduled for October 26. Wednesday's ruling followed an emergency hearing, the latest development in the ongoing custody battle between Spears and her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.

An October 21 phone message left with Kevin Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, was not immediately returned.
