Capitol Records Nashville Artists Shine Big as Songwriters
Nashville, Tenn., Oct. 18, 2007 -- Capitol Records Nashville artists kicked off the country music awards show season showing that they are not only talented artists but equally talented as songwriters. The 2007 ASCAP Country Music Awards and the 2007 NSAI Awards were given to songwriters and artists who have created some of the most memorable songs this year.
Dierks Bentley was a triple winner at the ASCAP awards - his songs Every Mile A Memory, Long Trip Alone and Settle for a Slowdown were three of the “Most Performed Country Songs of 2007.”
Capitol recording artist Cyndi Thomson was also a winner in the “Most Performed Country Songs of 2007” category with the song Life Ain’t Always Beautiful she penned for Gary Allan.
Legendary worldwide country superstar Kenny Rogers took home the Golden Note Award at the ASCAP awards, which is presented to songwriters, composers and artists who have achieved extraordinary career milestones.
Luke Bryan came out a winner at the NSAI awards for his tune Good Directions (performed by Billy Currington). Good Directions and Luke were singled out as one of the 10 songs and writers for the organization’s category, informally dubbed The Songs I Wish I’d Written.
