- Home opener slated for Mar. 31 vs. Angels
- Schedule features seven games vs. the Yankees, four vs. Boston and interleague visits from Milwaukee, Washington and Arizona
10/17/2007, MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins today announced the club's tentative 2008 regular season schedule, featuring home interleague play against the Milwaukee Brewers, Washington Nationals and Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Minnesota Twins will kick off their 48th season on Monday, March 31 with a seven-game homestand including four games against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (March 31-April 3) and three games against the Kansas City Royals (April 4-6).
The Twins' opening road trip features visits to division rivals Chicago White Sox (April 7-10), Kansas City Royals (April 11-13) and Detroit Tigers (April 14-15). The Twins return home to the Metrodome to face the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (April 16-17) followed by a weekend series versus the Cleveland Indians (April 18-20).
The Twins 2008 home schedule features a six-game homestand in June with National League opponents including the Washington Nationals (June 17-19) and Arizona Diamondbacks (June 20 - 22). The Twins visit the San Diego Padres (June 24-26) before returning home to close out interleague play against the Milwaukee Brewers (June 27-29). Other home schedule highlights include two visits from the New York Yankees (May 30-June 2 and August 11-13) and a four-game series against the Boston Red Sox (May 9-12). Also in May, the team will travel to Denver to face the National League Champion Colorado Rockies (May 16-18).
The Twins will play their American League Central Division rivals 18 games each, including three series at home and three series on the road against Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit and Kansas City.
Meanwhile, the Twins will play all other American League teams one series at home and one on the road with the exception of New York and Texas who each visit the Metrodome twice. This is the first time since 1999 the Yankees have visited the Metrodome twice in one season. Road exceptions include Seattle and Oakland, which the Twins will visit twice during the 2008 season.
Deposits are now being taken for 2008 season tickets, and single-game tickets go on sale at TwinsFest, which is scheduled for January 25-27, 2008. Fans are encouraged to order tickets early for the home opener as well as the premium series against the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Milwaukee Brewers.
