St. Louis Cardinals Begin Season Ticket Holder Relocation Early
- No price increase on approximately half the seats
- Missouri's new ticket re-sale laws in effect
10/12/2007, ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Cardinals are conducting season ticket holder relocation earlier than ever this year, allowing eligible season ticket holders to explore potential new seat locations in November.
Season ticket holders will receive their renewal and relocation request forms in the mail this week. Season ticket prices will not be increased in 2008 for approximately half of the St. Louis Cardinals 28,000 season ticket holders, with the remainder experiencing a nominal 2.9 percent average price increase, equating to an average increase of $1.15 per ticket.
Following their World Series win in 2006, the Cardinals froze season ticket prices across the board for the 2007 season.
"We did not raise season ticket prices last year as a 'thank you' to our loyal fans who invested themselves financially and emotionally in our ballclub, from the opening of the new Busch Stadium through winning the World Series in October," said Mark Lamping, Cardinals president. "Some of our fans will experience a slight increase in ticket prices in 2008, a simple byproduct of our commitment to field the best team possible and provide the best ballpark experience in Major League Baseball.
"Fifteen of our 32 season ticket price categories will remain the same in 2008. Cardinals season tickets will continue to provide our fans with excellent value and exceptional return for their dollar."
Also in 2008, Missouri's recent repeal of its long-standing ticket re-sale law will take effect. Previously, season ticket holders were only allowed to receive the amount they originally paid when they resold their tickets on the Prime Seat Club. With the new law, fans will soon be able to post their tickets for resale at whatever price they choose and retain the entire amount, less a nominal service fee.
In addition to the state law change, Major League Baseball has entered into a five-year agreement to partner with the nation's premier ticket re-sale outlet, StubHub. This partnership will allow more potential buyers to see their available tickets than ever before, without paying anything to join. The full functionality of the Prime Seat Club (print-at-home, ticket transfers and ballpark will call pick-up) teamed with the free market and enormous combined audience of the Prime Seat Club and StubHub should create the best of both worlds for season ticket holders interested in maximizing their return and usage of their Cardinals tickets in a safe and secure online environment.
