Citrix Presentation Server Helps City of Chattanooga Expand Technology Initiative for City's Children
Chattanooga Recreation Centers to Receive State-of-the-Art Computers and Internet Access
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla — 10/8/2007 — Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS), the global leader in application delivery infrastructure, today announced that Citrix Presentation ServerTM is a part of the expansion of the “Connecting the Dots with Technology” initiative in Chattanooga, Tenn. This initiative, a continuing partnership between the city’s Education, Arts & Culture (EAC), Parks and Recreation, Information Services Departments and several local and national IT companies, outfits Chattanooga recreation centers with state-of-the-art computers, high-speed Internet access, and software compatible with Hamilton County’s Department of Education curriculum.
“We are addressing the disparity created by the digital divide,” said Mayor Ron Littlefield. “These computers will provide a vital link ensuring everyone has access to expanding technology.”
Nine recreation centers around Chattanooga are included in this expansion of the Connecting the Dots with Technology initiative, which will provide improved access for up to 3,400 citizens each week. Citrix Presentation Server gives the recreation centers fast, secure and flexible access to Internet, applications and information. Children will be able to use the computers to complete homework assignments, while the city will realize reduced technology and administrative costs because Citrix Presentation Server extends the life of computers and makes adding and updating software much faster to implement.
“Access to technology is so important in the world we live in, and the city of Chattanooga has made it a priority to ensure that everyone has that access,” said Dave Podwojski, Director, State and Local Government and Education, Citrix Systems. “Citrix Presentation Server bridges the digital gap by delivering access to Internet, information and applications anywhere, any time, to any device with an Internet connection – and we’re proud to be part of an initiative that gives the children of Chattanooga access to the technology tools and information they need in order to succeed.”
The city expects to have all nine centers completely outfitted in about 60 days. For further information regarding Connecting the Dots with Technology, contact EAC director of development and marketing Laurie Shipley at (423) 425-7826 or Shipley_L@mail.chattanooga.gov.
