RedsHeads Run Around the Bases, Take Home Dirt on Fan Appreciation Day
10/01/2007, CINCINNATI -- After the last game of the season yesterday, Cincinnati Reds "RedsHeads" Kids Club members were invited to run the bases and get a scoop of Great American Ball Park dirt as part of Fan Appreciation Day.
Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips stood along the base path giving kids a high-five before they crossed home plate.
"It was fantastic to close out the season by giving kids an authentic sample of the field of play from 2007", says Declan Mullin, Vice President of Ballpark Operations.
The Reds launched the RedsHeads Kids Club in May. For a $20 fee, members received RedsHeads merchandise, four free tickets to Reds games and access to five special Members Only experiences at the ballpark. Pitcher Aaron Harang was the RedsHeads Kids Club Captain for 2007.
"We were blown away by how quickly the RedsHeads membership grew during our first year," said Corey Hawthorne, RedsHeads Kids Club Coordinator. "We will begin our '08 signups at Redsfest in December and are planning even more exciting experiences for next year."
Still to come for 2007 will be the RedsHeads Haunted Halloween experience at the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum. Information on how to join the RedsHeads can be found at www.reds.com.
