Hillary Clinton: Statement of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton on the Signing of the College Cost Reduction Act
September 28, 2007 -- “The President took an important step today toward making college more affordable for millions of families by signing the College Cost Reduction Act into law. I am proud the bill provides the largest increase in student aid since the GI Bill and includes provisions I authored that cap monthly loan payments at 15 percent of the borrower's discretionary income, increase Pell Grants and allow working students to keep more of their income without losing crucial student aid.
With this new law, we have given millions of students and families the key to unlock the door to a college education and the American dream. I am very proud of the work we have done to increase college access for millions of low-income and non-traditional students and to make America more competitive in the global economy.”
