Kansas City Royals Announce 2008 Home Baseball Schedule
Host opening series against New York Yankees on April 8-10
09/27/2007, KANSAS CITY -- The Kansas City Royals today announced their regular season home schedule for the 2008 season. The Royals home opener is set for Tuesday, April 8 against the New York Yankees, kicking off a three-game series. The first homestand will conclude with a weekend visit from division rival Minnesota for a three-game set that runs from April 11-13.
The 2008 home schedule is once again highlighted by a three-game series against the intrastate rival St. Louis Cardinals from June 27-29. In addition to the Cardinals, the Royals will host the San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies at Kauffman Stadium to complete the Kansas City portion of the Interleague schedule. The Rockies will be making their first-ever visit to Kansas City, leaving the Atlanta Braves and the Washington Nationals as the only clubs in baseball not to have visited Kauffman Stadium.
The longest stays of the year are a pair of 10-game stands, the first from May 5-14, featuring visits from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (3), Baltimore Orioles (4) and Detroit Tigers (3). The other 10-gamer will run from August 1-10, with the White Sox (3), Red Sox (4) and Twins (3) visiting the "K."
The Royals have only one holiday home game, hosting the Baltimore Orioles on Mother's Day (May 11). The game dates are subject to change. The Royals full schedule will be released in the near future. Times for both the home and road games will be released in either December or January.
