Statement of Georgia Governor Perdue on Delta Direct Service Route from Atlanta to Shanghai
September 25, 2007 -- ATLANTA – Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today following the announcement by U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Mary Peters that Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines has been awarded a direct service route between Atlanta and Shanghai:
“With three major Chinese companies announcing new investment and jobs in Georgia recently, this direct service between Atlanta and Shanghai will only help to strengthen our state's economic and cultural ties with China,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “I am proud of the effort Georgia and Metro Atlanta put forth to support Delta's application, and I am confident this new service will play a critical role as we market Georgia and the Southeast to growing Asian economies.”
