09/26/2007 -- Major League Baseball today announced that actors James Caan and Ellen Pompeo posted their videos to actober.com, the first user-generated content website produced by a major professional sports league.

James Caan, a die-hard New York Yankees fan, created a video highlighting some of his favorite famous moments in Yankees history. The candid footage tells the story of how Caan was once able to root for an opposing team player, Bobby Thomson of the New York Giants, to hit a home run that would defeat the Brooklyn Dodgers. "A true Yankees fan can always root for the team that will bring down their rival," said Caan. He also reminisces about his hero Mickey Mantle and reenacts some of Mantle's greatest baseball moments including the infamous "long home run."

Ellen Pompeo, who stars in "Grey's Anatomy" on ABC, which will premiere its fourth season on Thursday, Sept. 27, captured her most memorable postseason moment while on the set of the hit television show. In the re-enactment, Ellen's character Dr. Meredith Grey is seen patching up an injured Curt Schilling's ankle and blotting the infamous "bloody sock," getting him prepped and ready to win a game for the Boston Red Sox.

Powered by MLB.com, actober.com provides fans access to the largest online archive of MLB footage in the world and hosts over sixty clips of historical postseason baseball footage. Fans can utilize the vintage footage to create their own actober moments and win tickets to the 2007 World Series. Caan's actober moment will run online and in select Major League ballparks nationwide during the 2007 MLB postseason. The actober.com concept was created by McCann-Erickson.

Among the October postseason "moments" featured on the site are classics such as Carlton Fisk's 12th-inning home run in the 1975 World Series, Reggie Jackson's three homers on three pitches in the deciding game of the 1977 World Series and Curt Schilling's "bloody sock" performance in Game 6 of the 2004 ALCS. Since its launch at the All-Star Game in July, actober.com has received more than 1.6 million hits.

James Caan garnered an Academy Award nomination for his role as Sonny Corleone in "The Godfather" and an Emmy nomination for his performance as football star Brian Piccolo in "Brian's Song." Caan also received a Best Actor Award from the Sebastian Film festival for his performance in Francis Ford Coppola's "The Rain People," as well as the Actor of the Year honor from the National Associate of Theater Owners for "The Gambler."

Ellen Pompeo currently stars on the hit show "Grey's Anatomy." Her performance as Meredith Grey has garnered her several Emmy nominations for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama. She has also received a SAG award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

The first celebrity "actober" to be posted debuted last week from "Survivor" host Jeff Probst. In Probst's popular reenactment, look-alikes for MLB greats Bobby Thomson, Derek Jeter, and Kirk Gibson are called to tribal council where each must make a case as to why his postseason moment is the best.
