Monday Night Football: Wins Night In Key Male Demos
September 25, 2007 -- ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown (11 a.m. – 1 p.m. ET) is averaging 2,258,000 households, an increase of 11% compared to the first three weeks of last year’s season. The show – which has seen its audience grow every year since 2001 – is averaging a 2.3 rating, up from 2.2. Among men 18-34, a key demo group, the show is averaging 859,000 impressions, up 33% from 648,000 at this point in 2006.
Last night’s Tennessee Titans – New Orleans Saints game on ESPN’s Monday Night Football earned a 8.6 rating, helping ESPN “win the night” for viewership in all the key male demos among all television networks – broadcast or cable – in prime time. Data for traffic to ESPN.com’s NFL content is not yet available for the game.
The 31-14 win by the Titans was seen in an average of 8,290,000 homes, the third most in cable television for the year, and averaged 10,792,000 viewers (P2+). So far this season, ESPN’s four NFL games account for the second-, third-, fourth- and sixth-most-watched shows on basic cable in 2007 (Disney Channel’s High School Musical 2 is No. 1 with 9.4 million HHs).
From the kickoff of ESPN’s NFL studio programming at 4 p.m. through the conclusion of the game, ESPN delivered 19.0 gross household coverage ratings for its MNF coverage.
