Who is Clint Bowyer?

Winning a race when it counts the most, NASCAR NEXTEL Cup driver Clint Bowyer drove to victory lane last weekend at New Hampshire International Speedway for the first time in his Cup career; the first Chase race of the season. Bowyer’s win moved him from 12th to fourth in the points, and in his second season of NEXTEL Cup racing, Bowyer has continued to impress fans and fellow drivers. But, who is Clint Bowyer? NASCAR Countdown will report on how Bowyer arrived on the NASCAR scene.

It’s Official: Dale Jr. in the No. 88

On Wednesday, NASCAR NEXTEL Cup driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Hendrick Motorsports announced Junior’s new sponsor and number for the 2008 season. Mountain Dew AMP Energy and the Army National Guard will sponsor Junior in the No. 88 Chevrolet. NASCAR Countdown will report on what he and his fans think of the news.

After weekend off, NASCAR Busch Series Returns to Racing on ESPN2

On Saturday afternoon, ESPN2 continues its season-long coverage of the NASCAR Busch Series with live racing from Dover International Speedway. The telecast of the 200-mile race begins at 3 p.m. ET with NASCAR Countdown, hosted by Allen Bestwick, with analyst Brad Daugherty, a former winning team owner in the NASCAR Busch Series and Truck Series, in the ESPN Pit Studio. The race telecast begins at 3 p.m. ET. Some NASCAR Countdown highlights:

A Repeat for Edwards?

NASCAR Busch Series points leader Carl Edwards will talk with ESPN pit reporter Jamie Little on his chances to defend at the Monster Mile, where he won in the spring. Edwards has won four Busch Series races in 2007, all on concrete racetracks. That designation has earned him the nickname “Concrete Carl.”

Ambrose a Daddy-to-be

NASCAR driver Marcos Ambrose will be on baby alert this weekend, with his wife expecting their second child at any time. Ambrose is scheduled to drive in Saturday’s NASCAR Busch Series race, but passed up the opportunity for a Cup ride with Robby Gordon on Sunday to be home with his wife. The big question – what will happen if Ambrose is notified mid-race? ESPN’s Mike Massaro will talk with Ambrose.

Driver Development: Landon Cassill

A new face in the NASCAR Busch Series, Landon Cassill, a developmental driver for Hendrick Motorsports, is slated to compete in four NASCAR Busch Series races this year; his first was at Richmond. ESPN’s Shannon Spake will report on Cassill’s career and his development as a driver, with input from team owner Rick Hendrick.
