California Governor Schwarzenegger Issues Statement on Death of San Jose Marine: Cpl. Carlos E. Gil Orozco
09/20/2007 -- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today released the following statement regarding the death of Cpl. Carlos E. Gil Orozco, of San Jose, CA:
“Californians owe a debt of gratitude to Corporal Carlos Gil Orozco for his sacrifice in defense of liberty. During this incredibly difficult time, Maria and I will continue to pray for the comfort of Carlos’s family and friends. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.”
Gil Orozco, 23, died Sept. 10 while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq. Gil Orozco was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, United States Marine Corps, Camp Lejeune, NC.
In honor of Cpl. Gil Orozco, Capitol flags will be flown at half-staff.
