Texas Rangers' Vicente Padilla, Oakland Athletics' Nick Swisher Disciplined by MLB

09/18/2007 -- Vicente Padilla of the Texas Rangers and Nick Swisher of the Oakland Athletics have been disciplined for the on-field incident that occurred in the top of the first inning of Sunday's game at McAfee Coliseum in Oakland. Bob Watson, Vice President of On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.

Vicente Padilla has been suspended for seven games for intentionally throwing at Nick Swisher and for his actions during the incident that ensued. Nick Swisher has been suspended for three games for charging the mound and for his actions during the incident. Both players also received undisclosed fines.

Both suspensions are scheduled to begin tonight, when the Texas Rangers play at Minnesota and the Oakland A's host Seattle. If either player appeals the suspension, it will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.
