John Kerry: Kerry Says Science Report Faults Administration on Climate Change Response
09/13/2007 -- WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator John Kerry issued the following statement today in response to a new study by the National Academy of Sciences evaluating the U.S. Climate Change Science Program.
“This is yet another wakeup call from an independent agency that shows that this government is falling far short in tracking and responding to the devastating impact of climate change,” Kerry said. “While we’re making some headway on natural science, this administration is doing far too little to assess impacts of environmental, social and economic damage – or to get that information into the hands of people who can implement an urgent response. I intend to introduce legislation soon that will update our nation’s climate science program and mandate a comprehensive national assessment of climate change science, impacts and vulnerabilities.”
