Statement By Florida Governor Charlie Crist Regarding Shooting Of Miami-Dade Police Officers

September 14, 2007 -- “My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the four brave Miami-Dade officers who were involved yesterday in the tragic shooting incident in South Florida. I join the Miami community and all Floridians in expressing my deepest sympathy for the family of Officer Jose Somohano who lost his life in the line of duty while working to keep his community safe. For officers Jody Wright, Christopher Carlin and Tomas Tundidor, I offer my hopes and prayers for complete recovery.

“These four officers are truly heroes. I applaud their dedication and courage in the face of danger and their ability to make quick decisions under extreme pressure. I also commend all South Florida and state law enforcement officers who were involved in the diligent search for the suspect. They exemplify the outstanding work Florida’s law enforcement officers do every day.”
