Next-Generation Live Sports Broadband Network to Feature 61 UEFA Champions League Games

September 13, 2007 -- ESPN360.com, the next-generation live sports broadband network, kicks off its season-long coverage of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, September 18. Fans can watch 61 games throughout the season, including the quarterfinals, semifinals and the final from Moscow. Each Tuesday and Wednesday match day ESPN360.com will deliver soccer fans three UEFA Champions League matches, one of which will be a simulcast of ESPN2’s coverage. Two of the matches each week will be offered in both English and Spanish-language feeds.

One of the world’s premier club soccer competitions, and among the biggest global sporting events, the UEFA Champions League is comprised of a group stage and four knockout rounds. Beginning in September and stretching through May, the group stage features 32 teams in eight groups of four, playing 96 Matches. The first knockout stage features 16 matches over two weeks, the second (quarterfinals) features eight matches over two weeks, and the third (semi-finals) features four matches over two weeks. The final is a single match.
