Houston Astros Return to Minute Maid Park for Nine-Game Homestand
Houston Astros to host Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates and Milwaukee Brewers
09/10/2007, HOUSTON -- The Houston Astros return to Minute Maid Park Tuesday, September 11 for a nine-game homestand against the Chicago Cubs (Sept. 11-13), the Pittsburgh Pirates (Sept. 14-16) and the Milwaukee Brewers (Sept. 17-19). The Astros will honor Craig Biggio as the club's Roberto Clemente Award nominee on Friday, Sept. 14.
Highlights of the homestand include: Double Play Tuesday (Sept. 11 & 18); 9/11 Heroes Night (Sept. 11), College Night (Sept. 14); The World Kolache Eating Championship (Sept. 14); Friday Night Fireworks (Sept. 14), Coca-Cola Value Night (Sept. 14); Hispanic Heritage Street Festival (Sept. 15); Woody's Winners (Sept. 16); and $1 Hot Dogs (Sept. 17).
HOMESTAND OPPONENTS
(SEPTEMBER 11-13) CHICAGO CUBS: The Cubs will visit Houston for the final time this season in a three-game series at Minute Maid Park. Games are set for Tuesday (Sept. 11), Wednesday (Sept. 12), and Thursday (Sept. 13) at 7:05 p.m. Pitching matchups are to be announced.
(SEPTEMBER 14-16) PITTSBURGH PIRATES: The Pirates will battle the Astros for the final time this season in Houston in a three-game series. Games are Friday (Sept. 14) at 7:05 p.m., Saturday (Sept. 15) at 6:05 p.m., and Sunday (Sept. 16) at 1:05 p.m. Pitching matchups are to be announced.
(SEPTEMBER 17-19) MILWAUKEE BREWERS: The Brewers return to Houston for the third and final time of the 2007 regular season for a three-game series with the Astros. Games are set for Monday (Sept. 17), Tuesday (Sept. 18) and Wednesday (Sept. 19) at 7:05 p.m. Pitching matchups are to be announced.
HOMESTAND HIGHLIGHTS
(September 11-19) BIGGIO 'THANK YOU' BANNER SIGNING: For the duration of the homestand, Astros fans are invited to sign a commemorative Craig Biggio Banner located behind the Press Box on the main concourse. As a tribute to Biggio's outstanding career and dedication to the Astros, the banner will be displayed during the final home series of the season (Sept. 28-30 vs. Atlanta).
(September 11) DOUBLE PLAY TUESDAY: Double Play Tuesday, presented by Powerade, returns to Minute Maid Park on Sept 11 and 18. Fans can redeem two (2) labels from specially marked 32-oz. bottles of Powerade product at the Texas Avenue Box Office and receive two (2) Outfield Deck admission tickets to any regular season Tuesday home game for only $2. The Double Play Tuesday offer is valid for all Tuesday Astros home games throughout the 2007 regular season.
(SEPTEMBER 11) 9/11 HEROES RECOGNITION: The Astros will invite all peace officers, firefighters and members of the military to Minute Maid Park as they honor America's heroes this September 11. All uniformed personnel are invited to the playing field before the game where the Astros will pay tribute to local heroes in a special pre-game ceremony. All uniformed personnel and their families can enjoy half-price tickets for this special game. The ceremonial first pitch will be a joint ceremony involving the Houston Police and Fire Departments, Medal of Valor winners, and a Purple Heart recipient.
(SEPTEMBER 14) CRAIG BIGGIO ROBERTO CLEMENTE AWARD NOMINATION: Join the Astros as they congratulate Craig Biggio for his nomination as the team's representative for the 2007 Roberto Clemente Award. Named in honor of the Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Famer and ambassador of goodwill, The Roberto Clemente Award is given annually to the Major League player who best exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship, community involvement, and contributions to his team. Fans can log on to www.astros.com to vote for Biggio as this year's national winner.
(SEPTEMBER 14) COLLEGE NIGHT: The Astros will host College Night at Minute Maid Park on Friday (Sept. 14). All fans with a valid student ID can purchase half-price tickets. The first 10,000 fans ages 16 and older will receive an Astros Dominoes Set courtesy of Banco Popular. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for a free concert featuring Another Day at 5:30 p.m. in Lefty's Patio. After the game, fans are invited to stay for Friday Night Fireworks presented by Marathon Oil Corporation, weather permitting.
(SEPTEMBER 14) WORLD KOLACHE EATING CHAMPIONSHIP: Following the conclusion of the game Friday night, fans are invited to watch the World Kolache Eating Championship presented by the Kolache Factory. The contest features 2007 Hot Dog Eating Champion, Joey Chestnut. The eight-minute event will take place at home plate and include nine other professional eaters who look to challenge Chestnut for the title of World Kolache Eating Champion. Friday Night Fireworks will immediately follow the conclusion of the contest, weather permitting.
(SEPTEMBER 14) COCA-COLA VALUE NIGHT: Friday, Sept. 14 is Coca-Cola Value Night. Every Friday home game throughout the regular season, fans can present one (1) coupon from a specially marked 24-pack of Coca-Cola Classic or Diet Coke at the Texas Avenue Box Office at Minute Maid Park or enter a special code online and pay $60 for the Value Nights pack (includes four (4) Mezzanine level tickets, four (4) hot dogs, four (4) Coca-Cola beverages, and two (2) Astros caps).
(SEPTEMBER 15) HISPANIC HERITAGE STREET FESTIVAL: Saturday, Sept. 15, the Houston Astros will host their first annual Hispanic Heritage Street Festival along Avenida de las Americas on the south side of Minute Maid Park. Fans are invited to this free event to enjoy live music, folklore dancing, children's activities, and traditional Hispanic food and beverages. The festival is from 2:30-5:30 p.m. and is open to the public. After the Festival, the Astros will take on the Pittsburgh Pirates at 6:05 p.m.
(SEPTEMBER 16) WOODY'S WINNERS: Astros pitcher Woody Williams, in conjunction with Special Olympics Houston, will be hosting Woody's Winners before Sunday's 1:05 p.m. home game. Williams will meet with and sign autographs for 15 athletes from the Special Olympics Houston organization. Williams is also providing the Special Olympians with tickets and food vouchers for Sunday afternoon's game. This Sunday's Woody's Winners will be the 11th of 12 Woody's Winners events this season.
(SEPTEMBER 17) $1 HOT DOG NIGHT: Monday, Sept. 17, features $1 Hot Dogs presented by Aramark at Minute Maid Park. Hot Dogs will be sold throughout the duration of the game for $1 each, while supplies last. The first 10,000 fans will receive a Craig Biggio Mini Bat commemorating his 3,000 hits.

TOUR MINUTE MAID PARK
Be one of the first to see inside the Astros Clubhouse. The Houston Astros Tour Department is now offering fans an inside look at the Houston Astros Clubhouse. Fans of all ages can visit the Astros Locker Room while making stops at the Training Room, Weight Room and Batting Cage facility. This is the first time fans have had access to the Astros Clubhouse since the ballpark first opened in 2000. Be one of the first to be part of this ultimate fan experience. This tour is limited to the first 75 people at each timeslot and tickets must be purchased in advance online at www.astros.com.
The Astros also offer public tours of Minute Maid Park, allowing visitors to enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the downtown ballpark. Fans are invited to take tours on a walk-up basis or through a private reserved group for parties of 25 or more. Educational tours are also available for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Tours run Monday through Saturday, with three tours daily at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m. The tour schedule changes on days of evening home games with the addition of a fourth tour, the Early Bird Tour, offered one hour prior to gates opening. Tickets for Astros games are available on the Internet at astros.com/tickets. Tickets are also available at the Minute Maid Park Box Office on Texas Avenue, which is open 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. On game days, the box office opens at 8:30 a.m. during the week and 9:00 a.m. on weekends and remains open until 30 minutes after the final out.
